Watercolor is the most difficult medium that I use, as it's very unforgiving with mistakes. These paintings have each taken 3+ months to plan, draw, and paint. All of these works have been inspired by statues and the series explores the themes of femininity, memory, burden, and fragility vs durability.
With oil painting, I have more freedom to explore different textures, color combinations, and techniques. After taking a course in French Impressionism, I made several oil paintings in the with the Pointillism technique.
These are quicker watercolor experiments in which I test out new techniques (layering, geometric precision, and monochromatic scenes).
